  • Title of training: Cryptogamic botany and Mycology
  • Description of project: A series of lectures, practicals, literature study and excursions, presenting the taxonomic diversity, phylogeny and biological aspects of the major clades of algae, mosses, ferns and macrofungi, incl. diagnostic information on the morphology and ecology and using herbarium and (when available) hortus collections.

Target audience: for trainees at PhD or Postdoc level.

Individual training based on face-to-face and group discussions and self-activation in practicals. The content is shaped to the advanced courses organized by NHN in this matter, which usually have 1-2 lectures a day followed by a full day practicals and demonstrations.

Training can be given in all 4 groups (Fungi, Algae, Mosses, Ferns) divided into 4 × 1-week sessions. Specialisation in one of these groups is also possible, training will take 4 weeks.
