DEST Expert-in-training programme

DEST provides a limited number of short-term training courses for graduate students and early career researchers working in the field of taxonomy. The main objectives of the programme are:

  • to provide to trainees the experience of working at a European university/research institute;
  • to provide the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their studies, and in particular in the field of taxonomy;
  • to enable such trainees to develop and strengthen their taxonomic research skills through on-the-job-training.

We invite you to have a look at our past and future training courses:

Modalities of the programme

The trainee will join a project team and will be coached by an expert (mentor) who will instruct her/him on ‘how to do the job’. The training will include lectures given by the mentor to the trainee. The typical duration of the training-on-the-job will be one week to one month depending on the training subject. Any necessary travel visas and medical insurance are the personal responsibility of the participant.
