Modalities of the programme
The trainee will join a project team and will be coached by an expert (mentor) who will instruct her/him on ‘how to do the job’. The training will include lectures given by the mentor to the trainee. The typical duration of the training-on-the-job will be one week to one month depending on the training subject. Any necessary travel visas and medical insurance are the personal responsibility of the participant.
DEST training courses are open to students and early career researchers from Europe and outside of Europe. Applicants should preferably hold at least a first cycle degree in an appropriate discipline and be strongly motivated to undertake training in taxonomy.
Calls for registrations are launched periodically on the DEST website. If you would like to participate in one of the trainings, please fill in the registration form and e-mail as an attachment to email@example.com Registration forms that are either incomplete or late will not be accepted. The deadline for each training can be found in the corresponding training description.
The applications will be evaluated by the DEST Selection Committee. The main selection criteria used to assess applicants will be their scientific merit, their motivation and usefulness of the training for his/her career.
Applicants will be notified upon receipt of their registration by e-mail. Applicants will be notified after the evaluation of their proposal whether they have been accepted or not (maximum 4-8 weeks after the call deadline). Successful applicants must notify the committee of their acceptance or refusal within 15 days of notification. Successful applicants will be posted on the DEST website.
Trainees who have completed the training will receive, after their training period, a certificate specifying the dates of the training period, specification of the training and the institution where they received the training.
