Taxonomy of freshwater macroinvertebrate bioindicator species

Description of project:
Workshop aimed to develop intermediate taxonomic skills (to genus level) with regard to freshwater macroinvertebrate bioindicators in lotic systems using larval forms of the insect groups: Plecoptera, Ephemeroptera and Trichoptera. Difficulty level adequate for individuals with some previous taxonomic experience and/or keen interest in freshwater ecology. While the majority of time would be spent identifying invertebrates in the lab, workshop will also integrate talks and a field exercise. The workshop will be led by EcoServe but carried out with assistance of the Irish National Biodiversity Data Centre and will cater for up to 20 international individuals.
