Wood biology training

 Description of project: 

The purpose of the training session is to train participants in the basics of wood biology, i.e., mainly tree growth analysis, the study of the microscopic characteristics of wood, the anatomy of wood, and dendrochronology.
Duration of training: 
To be decided depending on the topic (max 4 weeks)
Training period: 
Duration and training dates should be discussed prior to visit with mentor
Target Audience: 
MSc students, PhD students and early career researchers
Practical experiences: 
The topics can include for example : - Basic principles of wood biology - Description of the 100 principal African wood types - Basic principles of growth analysis - Practical training in microtomy - Basic principles of forest inventory - Practical training in microscopic wood analysis - Management of wood collections and the supporting database
